Back in 2009, when my Dad was on sabbatical, we all went with him. It was a trip to Norway, for six months. Total immersion into the local language, cuisine, culture, etc., and while I've forgotten a lot of it (I was 7 at the time, cut me some slack) one thing I'll never forget was going through Hardangerjøkulen, the glacier where Hoth was filmed. It was part of a massive tour, called Norway in a Nutshell, that took us sightseeing via train, bus, and ship, and one of the places we went was Hardangerjøkulen. Trust me, there's nothing quite as majestic as seeing that in real life. And feeling it, at one point, as we got between some of the cars to get a picture, then immediately going back into the heated car because it was well into the negatives despite it being June. Coincidentally, I first saw the Star Wars trilogy in Norway. So Star Wars is forever associated with Norway in my mind.

You did this. You brought this on us. Chokes me up. Coming from a hardcore fantasy fan, when it comes to science-fiction, Star Wars - Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back is the best of the best.
Compared to the slightly campy style of A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back is full of darker characters and personalities, be they new people or familiar faces. Mark Hamil is superior in comparison to his role in Episode IV, as well as Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford. James Earl Jones is the epitome of evil as Darth Vader, and makes him one of the scariest villains ever portrayed in film. besting his role in the previous installment. Billy Dee Williams is great as Lando Calrissian, a suave and more swashbuckling character than Hans Solo at times. in appearance and attitude at least.
George Lucas' story is executed so well, both screenplay and direction, it surpasses A New Hope in every aspect. Taking us to new worlds, and giving us new characters that we either love, hate, or simply do not trust. The twist near the end (as everyone should know by now) is one of the best scenes ever put in a motion picture, and one of the greatest lines ever conceived. This is a darker Star Wars than A New Hope, which was more kid-friendly, however this is more for adults. The tone of the film is slightly grimmer, and the stakes are higher. The replacement of Lucas in the directing chair is probably the best decision made in the entirety of the franchise.
Just like Episode IV, this film has excellent visual effects. The battle on the ice planet Hoth is so memorable and beautifully shot, it truly deserves its mark as the highlight of the entire series.
The score is better this time around as well. Improving onto old themes, and creating some rousing new ones, John Williams has really outdone himself. I highly recommend this music to all.
Overall, with eye-candy and brains, The Empire Strikes Back is better than the first, and the greatest science-fiction film ever. Definitely see this film.

This one is my favorite because it's when Han & Leia fall in love, when Lando comes into action and Han gets frozen in carbonite. I just love it so much. It will always & forever be my favorite. I love the droids, Chewbacca, the evilness of Darth Vader, and the acting from the entire cast. Mark Hamill is always adorable as Luke, Harrison Ford is always hilarious & gorgeous as Han Solo, Carrie Fisher is perfection as Leia Organa & Anthony Daniels as C-3PO & Kenny Baker as R2D2. The entire movie is perfection to be quite honest. George Lucas is a revolutionary genius and that is without a doubt the best way to in the best of terms put it. Don't take my word for it though, see this movie and see why I am correct in all aspects.

Thanks for reacting to this. MOVE THE SHIP OUT OF THE ASTEROID FIELD, SO THAT WE CAN HAVE DIRECTTV. I always interpreted this as Sidious testing Vader. He knew Vader wanted to overthrow him and knew Vader would use Luke to attempt doing so. Vader knows exactly who Luke is at this point and by saying How is that possible? he is feigning ignorance to Sidious, but Sidious knows that Vader know's who the rebel who destroyed the death star is. Thank god Lucas did change this because the original scene was dreadful. Whoever disliked this movie sorry your unhappy with it. Lets put a smile on that face.
